What we are looking for
UNICEF Australia’s Accountant will support the financial function by ensuring the delivery of accurate and compliant financial information in line with accounting standards, while contributing to the development of systems and control frameworks that strengthen and enable effective UNICEF Australia operations.
Your day will include

Financial Accounting – preparing year-end statements, reconciling accounts (e.g. payroll, assets, leases, prepaid expenses, Change for Good income) and supporting continuous improvement of financial procedures.

Systems Administration – helping maintain and improve financial systems to ensure efficient, accurate processes, including expense management and GL integrations.

Payroll – managing our outsourced payroll and salary packaging, ensuring compliance with legislation, answering employee queries, reconciling superannuation payments, and supporting parental leave and benchmarking processes.

Compliance & Reporting – preparing BAS, PAYG and other statutory lodgements, and ensuring timely, accurate reporting to regulators

Treasury – maintaining the investment register, reconciling bank accounts (including USD and Rotary accounts), and processing foreign exchange journals.

Financial Planning & Analysis – contributing to annual budgets, reforecasts, remuneration reviews, and labour analysis.
We would like you to have the following skills and experience
• Qualified accountant with ongoing professional membership
• Proven experience of complex reconciliation work
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, and experience using Microsoft 365 apps
• Track record of successful process improvement initiatives including systems configuration
