Job Description

UNICEF Australia is offering a part time (3 days per week) permanent position, built around the diversity of our team and their needs. A competitive salary commensurate with the not for profit sector is offered together with a broad range of wellbeing benefits.

 

What we are looking for 

A personable and committed Counting House Manager to lead and manage Counting House Team, ensuring the effective collection, processing, and reporting of donations made through the UNICEF Australia Change for Good Program (CFG). This position reports to the Finance Team and will oversee all operational aspects of the Counting House, including staff scheduling, stakeholder liaison, and compliance with safety and security regulations. The position includes significant lifting and manual handling tasks, so the successful applicant should possess a suitable level of physical fitness.  

This role is based at Qantas Freight International Terminals (near T1), and requires working hours from 05:00 to 13:00 between Monday to Wednesday to suit airport operational needs, and Qantas security clearance, therefore applicants must be Australian citizens in order to be eligible. 

Your day will include

  • Supervise, coach, train, and support CH Coordinators and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and high performing team environment across all tasks and airport locations.
  • Oversee the collection of donations from all designated locations, ensuring efficient logistics and compliance with procedures, while managing the sorting, counting, and processing of coins and notes (foreign and domestic).
  • Coordinate the preparation and scheduling of Armaguard and CGE shipments, ensuring accurate record-keeping and reporting, including monthly reports and bag tracking.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Qantas staff, contractors, and other external partners.
  • Oversee compliance with UNICEF WH&S and Qantas Freight Terminal Safety and Security Regulations, ensuring adherence to CFG Policies and Procedures and upholding safeguarding and background check requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation within Counting House operations, and monitor supply and distribution of promotional materials and consumables at CH and various airport.

 

We would like you to have the following skills and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership and operational management, preferably in a warehouse or logistics setting, including following WHS legal requirements and best practices.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to manage competing priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of corporate fundraising programs such as Change for Good.
  • Demonstrated success in accounting and reporting offsite finances.
  • Demonstrated reliability in working in a small offsite office.
  • Current Australian drivers licence.
  • Advanced PC skills – Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
