Job Description

We are offering a full time 9 month fixed term (parental leave) contract position, working in a flexible environment, built around the diversity of our team and their needs. What we are looking for 

The People & Culture Manager leads the operational People & Culture function and is a trusted advisor across the organisation. The role ensures UNICEF Australia has the people, culture, systems and workplace environment needed to thrive — supporting a safe, inclusive and high-performing organisation. 

With strong expertise across HR operations, Wellbeing, Health and Safety and employee experience, the People & Culture Manager plays a central role in strengthening culture, building leadership capability and ensuring our people have what they need to do their best work. 

Your day will include

  • Providing strategic HR advice to leaders on workforce planning, team structures and remuneration approaches, including leading the annual remuneration review cycle and salary benchmarking processes. 
  • Leading Performance & Wellbeing practices, supporting managers with performance conversations, development planning and employee wellbeing. 
  • Managing ER matters and ensuring compliance across Wellbeing, Health and Safety, safeguarding, workplace risk and legislative requirements. 
  • Overseeing office and premises operations, including budget management and ensuring a safe, ergonomic and engaging workplace environment. 
  • Ensuring safe and compliant staff travel, supporting travel readiness, wellbeing preparation and monitoring staff movements when overseas. 
  • Leading HR operations and continuous improvement, managing the People & Culture Coordinator, strengthening P&C systems and maintaining key policies and processes. 
We would like you to have the following skills and experience
  • Strong experience in HR generalist, P&C leadership or HR business partnering roles. 
  • Solid background in Employee Relations and Work Health & Safety, with confidence advising on legislation, risk, compliance and investigations. 
  • Experience advising on workforce planning, performance processes and leading remuneration activities, including annual review cycles and salary benchmarking.  
  • Ability to build trust and influence at all levels of leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience preparing clear, insightful reports and workforce updates. 
  • Strong organisation, judgement and ability to balance hands-on delivery with strategic thinking. 
  • Commitment to child safeguarding principles and alignment with UNICEF Australia’s mission and values. 
  • Collaborative, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
